Wildflower Inn & Restaurant
If you haven't heard already, there is a truly amazing & dare we say magical travel destination in Vermont called the "Northeast Kingdom". Here you can find endless miles of hiking & mountain biking trails, downhill & nordic skiing in the winter, incredibly colorful foliage in the fall, and always the kindest and most open-hearted folks around. And perched atop possibly the most picturesque spot in the whole scenic area sits the iconic Wildflower Inn & Restaurant. With that as an introduction, we were absolutely thrilled when they asked us to help redesign their web presence. How could we possibly say no to that?!
After our initial meetings it became abundantly clear ownership & management at Wildflower wanted to move beyond a "transactional" website and pivot to something "experiential" in scope. Something that shared the true beauty of the location while offering the multitude of ways in which one could experience that at the inn. Of course it had to function & look good on desktop - but more importantly it had to really function well on mobile devices. And above all that it had remain authentic and genuine in it's presentation... "Vermont Chíc " as we came to call it.
With the website redesign proceeding in phases, the biggest part of subsequent phases was educating ownership & management on how to access & utilize the content management system (CMS) themselves to make updates and edits to the site. If they want to change their restaurant's menu, promote a special event, or even add a new room to their offerings we felt they should be empowered to do that themselves. And with Hired Hand Design in the wings to offer guidance and support when needed, the Wildflower has taken the reins of their own destiny and in doing so, really had the opportunity to blossom.
